Bringing Light to Kaaga: A Report from Our Joint Medical Camp in Meru County

This past Saturday, March 28th, was a day of compassion, community, and clear vision. Halo Vision, in partnership with the Methodist Treatment Centre and Kenya Methodist University (KeMU), successfully hosted a free medical camp in Kaaga, Meru County.
The atmosphere was one of hope as the local community turned out in large numbers to receive basic healthcare checks. From dental services to blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, our team worked tirelessly to ensure no one left without care. We also provided essential healthcare counselling, because treating the body also means educating the mind.
However, the heart of our mission is always eye health—and this is where we saw both urgent need and incredible opportunity.

The Numbers That Matter
At the eye screening department alone, we were able to screen 200 patients. For many, this was the first time they had ever had their eyes professionally examined.
80 pairs of reading glasses were distributed on the spot, giving immediate relief to elderly men and women who could no longer read their Bibles or sew, and to students struggling to see their blackboards.
21 patients were found to have serious eye conditions requiring further medical tests.
4 patients were confirmed to have mature cataracts requiring immediate surgery to prevent permanent blindness.
10 patients have immature cataracts and will need a review in the coming months.
We also recorded cases of refraction errors (needing prescription glasses), general allergies, and old injury scars.
A Heavy Reality: No Insurance, No Savings
Here is the sobering truth: the majority of these patients are poor and have no form of insurance coverage. For the four people facing imminent blindness from mature cataracts, surgery is not just a medical procedure—it is a financial impossibility without help.
At Halo Vision, we refuse to look away. We are committed to following up on these individual cases and sponsoring those in serious need for blindness-prevention interventions.
How You Can Be the Miracle They Are Praying For
We cannot do this without you. Every year, generous donations from friends like you make these life-changing interventions possible. Even just $5 can make a life-changing difference for someone who has lost hope of ever seeing clearly again.
Here is exactly how your gift helps:
a) Social Health Scheme for 1 Month
Your gift could cover a needy patient’s access to critical eye surgery. One month of coverage under the Social Health Authority (SHA) can mean the difference between a lifetime of darkness and the miracle of clear vision. Just as Jesus restored sight to the blind, your generosity brings light into darkness.
b) Reading Glasses ($5 – $10)
For an elderly person struggling to read or a student fighting to focus, a simple pair of reading glasses restores dignity, independence, and the ability to work or study. It turns blurred confusion into clear focus.
c) Medical Camp Supplies
In many rural areas, healthcare is scarce. Your support helps us pack supplies, transport equipment, and reach the next person who is desperately waiting for help.
A Call to Action
Every small gift glorifies God by touching a life and spreading His boundless love.
